• on a general note
-The phrase "on a general note" is commonly used to introduce a statement or observation that is intended to apply broadly or generally to a situation, topic, or group of people. It is often used to preface a comment that may not be specific to a particular instance but rather is meant to provide a more overarching or general perspective on a subject.
For example, if someone says, "On a general note, it's important to stay organized in order to be successful," they are making a broad statement that is not necessarily tied to any specific context but is meant to convey a general principle or piece of advice.
-“On a general note” is usually an expression used when people have been talking about multiple subjects, and try to come back to a general one. It’s also used to summarise and group together.
For example, you and you’re friend talk about multiple deep philosophical subjects. Then they say “But, on a general note, I do find life to be worthwhile.” It’s a way to summarise and state the general opinion.
Your teacher could also say “On a general note, the class was well-behaved today.” It would be a way to say that, although this statement is not 100% accurate, the whole of the class was well-behaved. It is used to generalize.
