1-to explain something in a simple, clear way
: ~을 간결하게[자세히] 설명하다

e.g.)

You know what I mean—I'm sure I don't need to spell it out.

                               내 말 무슨 뜻인지 알겠죠. 자세히 설명할 필요 없을 거예요.

Do I really have to spell it out for you?

His speech spelled out a clear message to the car industry.

*spell out why, what, etc…

Let me spell out why we need more money.

                               우리에게 왜 더 많은 돈이 필요한지 내가 간단히 설명할게요.

She spelled out precisely what she wanted.

 

2-to say or write the letters of a word in the right order

: 철자를 옳게[맞춤법에 맞게] 말하다[쓰다]

e.g.)

Could you spell that name out again?

                               그 이름의 (옳은) 철자를 한 번 더 말씀해 주시겠어요?

4-sense/nonsense [transitive] talk something to say things that are/are not sensible

: (양식 있는 말·허튼소리 등을) 하다[지껄이다]

She talks a lot of sense.

                               그녀는 양식 있는[이치에 맞는] 말을 많이 한다.

(英) You’re talking rubbish!

                               넌 헛소리만 지껄이고 있어!

See if you can talk some sense into him (= persuade him to be sensible).

                               그에게 이치에 맞게 굴라고 한번 얘기를 해 봐요.
