■ Specific categories about employees in order to apply wage differential system.

• Implementing a wage differential system would be challenging and potentially unfair to employees without the specific categories.

• Having specific categories in place would make the wage gap policy more favorable to employees.

Rsn')

The reason behind it is that First, we can treat employees based on the difficulty of the work they have to do.

e.g.)

Employees working in shipbuilding are often exposed to dangerous working environments.

Their work is typically more challenging and exhausting than that of employees in other fields.

So that’s why they are supposed to receive hazard pay.

Additionally, people working in EPC projects are exposed to excruciating working environment.

In every summer season, working in scorching hot sunlight.

In every winter season, freezing wind.

In conclusion, by categorizing employees based on the difficulty of their work and potential risks, it would be fair to provide additional compensation or benefits.

If the owner of the business or the employers are reluctant to provide those mentioned things, Korean government must adapt the wage differential systems.

Simultaneously, there would be an inevitable circumstance whereby there is disparity in minimum wage between people working in dangerous areas and those who are not.

■ Considering the increase in prices and living expenditures, the current minimum wage is inadequate. The reason is that the minimum wage rate had always exceeded the rate of price increases by this year. Because of this, I don't believe that this year's minimum wage is appropriate. With this perspective, I side with the minimum wage commission.

As we mentioned, increasing the minimum wage too much can lead to job losses and negatively impact small businesses. However, if the minimum wage isn't increased, employees may not have their basic rights met. I would say that solely focusing on the minimum wage rate and amount, while comparing our Korean society to other countries' ones, is not enough. We have to understand the current social phenomenon from multiple and various viewpoints and angles.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, during the initial stage, the Korean government, particularly the Moon administration, decided to distribute financial aid to the people. They anticipated if people had received this bailout, they would have spent the money on goods and services, the bailout leading to an economic boost. However, it turned out that this was not the case, and their expectations did not match the results. This suggests simply helping people by raising the minimum wage or distributing money may not be the ultimate solution.

Sure, a comprehensive approach is needed to address wage differentials effectively. We also have to consider that sometimes the outcome is not what we expect it to be. Do you understand what I'm saying?
