※ so~that, so that, such that, such~that 용법에 관한 모든 것
so that의 용법
1. so~that의 결과절과 목적절
1) so 형용사/부사 that .....
여기서 so는 very의 의미이고, that은 ‘그래서’라는 뜻.
e.g.) He is so rich that he can buy it
→ He is very rich, so he can buy it
Ref)

https://englishstudypage.com/grammar/so-that-vs-such-that/

② ▶ so~that 주어 can R = ~ enough to R ; 너무 ~해서 R할 수 있다
    ▶ so~that 주어 can't R = too ~ to R ; 너무 ~해서 R할 수 없다
e.g.)
ⓐ He is so rich that he can buy it = He is rich enough to buy it
ⓑ He is so poor that he can't buy it = He is too poor to buy it

2) so that ; 목적절 (-하기 위하여)
to V = in order to V = so as to V
=so that 주어 may(can, will) V
=in order that 주어 may(can, will) V

He works hard to succeed
                   in order to succeed
                   so as to succeed
                   so that he may succeed
in order that he may succeed

3) so~that과 so that의 해석상의 차이점
e.g.) He got up so early that he could see the sunrise
e.g.) He got up early so that he could see the sunrise

2. <~, so that S+V ~> 와 <~ so that S+V>의 차이점

Ref)
https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/definition/english/so_3

e.g.) He spoke clearly, so that everyone could understand him.

e.g.) The site of St Petersburg was chosen so that ships could sail between the city and western Europe.

Ref)
https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/definition/english/so_3

e.g.) He speak clearly so that everyone could understand him.

3. such that 용법
여기서 such는 ‘so great' 정도로 해석하심 됨. that은 결과절을 이끄는 접속사이구요.
예) His anxiety was such that he could hardly sleep

4. such~that 과 such that의 다른 점.
such~that은 두 단어 사이에 명사가 들어가고, such that은 붙여서 사용
e.g.) She sang with such a sweet voice that she charmed everyone present

*such (a + 형용사 + 명사) that : that 이하가 결과를 받는경우.
e.g.) Mary got such a nice welcome (that) she almost cried.

*such that
e.g.) His behavior was such that everyone disliked him.
e.g.) His anger was such that he lost control of himself.

cf) ***** so ~ that 과 such ~ that의 차이점 *****
① so 형용사/부사 that 절~
② such (형용사) + 명사 that 절~ 이 있다.

Ref) This book is too hard for me to read. - This book is so hard that I can not read it.
그래서  too 형용사 to 부정사가 보이지도 않던 (내재된) 부정 not 이 튀어나와?  so 형용사 that S can’t V이 되는 것임.

e.g.-1)
International Brand's advertising campaign was such a success that the company was overwhelmed by orders for its new product.
International Brand
→ International Brand's advertising campaign was so successful that the company was overwhelmed by orders for its new product.
Ref) International Brand

e.g.-2).
The engine was ⓑ in such bad condition that it had to be completely overhauled.

S: The engine    V: was + (수식어) in such bad condition 부사구, 앞의 동사 was 수식
that + 종속절: S: it    V: had to be overhauled + (수식어) completely 부사

What grade are you in? I’m in the 9th grade.

Ref) in이 있고 없고 상관이 없이 such ~ that의 기본 개념은 바뀌지 않습니다.

e.g.-3)
Ms. Simms described the suspect in such detail that the police were able to locate him in no time.
• in no time: immediately, at once

5. so that 과 such that 문법적 예시 및 도치구문 활용법
1) so ~ that - 결과절
• such ~that 어순: such (a) (형용사) 명사 that S V
• so ~ that 어순: so 형용사/부사 that S V
                      → so 형용사 a 명사 that S V

e.g.) She sang with such a sweet voice that she charmed everyone present
                            so sweet a voice that
                            so 형용사 a 명사 that S V

Ref) so ~ that 구문을 too ~to나 enough to 구문으로 바꾸는 것에 대해 위에서 말씀드렸습니다.

He is so poor that he can't buy it을
→ He is too poor to buy it으로 바꿀 수 있음은 위에서 말씀드렸습니다.

e.g.) The rock was so heavy that he couldn't move it.

The rock was too heavy to move it (X)

He is too poor to buy it 이 문장을 다시 봅시다

The rock was too heavy to move it 이제 이 문장을 봅시다.
The rock was too heavy for him to move it.

목적어 it이 문장 주어 The rock과 동일합니다.
e.g.) The rock was so heavy that he couldn't move it.
→ The rock was too heavy for him to move.

㉠ The problem was so easy that I could solve it.
→ The problem was easy enough for me to solve.
(to부정사의 의미상의 주어 for me는 to부정사 앞에 써 줍니다)

㉡ The problems were too difficult for me to solve.
→ The problems were so difficult that I couldn't solve them.

2) so that ; 목적절 (-하기 위하여)

He ran fast not to be late
in order not to be late
so as not to be late
so that he might not be late
in order that he might not be late
               lest he should be late
for fear he should be late
not to V
=in order not to V
=so as not to V
=so that 주어 may(can, will, might) not V
=lest 주어 should V
=for fear 주어 should V

He stepped aside so that she could pass
in order that she could pass

He works hard so that he may succeed
=He works hard to succeed

He stepped aside to pass (X)

He works hard to succeed

He stepped aside to pass (X) 이 문장은, 비켜선 것도, pass하는 것도 모두 He라는 의미입니다

누가 to pass하죠?
He stepped aside for her to pass

3) so that S won't/wouldn't
또는 not to-V 구문.
(1) 목적이 부정문일때는 so that... won't/wouldn't 구문을 사용한다.
e.g.) I hurried so that I wouldn't be late. (=because I didn't want to be late)
e.g.) Leave early so that you won't (or don't) miss the bus.
e.g.) Also, live in quiet environment so that you won't suffer such drastic hearing loss.

Ref) 보통 so, such 의 어순이 아래와 같습니다.
* so 형용사 a 명사 that
* such a 형용사 명사 that / such 형용사 명사(불가산명사) that

something beutiful (O), beutifull something (X)

4) so that S can/could를 사용할 경우,
e.g.) She's learning English so that she can study in Canada
e.g.) We moved to the city so that we could visit our friends more often.

5) such that 도치 구문
e.g.) His anxiety was such that he could hardly sleep
                          so great that
→ Such was his anxiety that he could hardly sleep
→ So great was his anxiety that he could hardly sleep

so ~ that 구문의 “so ~”나 such 구문의 “such"가 문두로 나가면 그 뒷부분은 의문문 어순으로 도치가 됩니다.
Be동사 +주어 ~
Do(Does, Did) +주어 +일반동사 ~

• too 형용사/부사 to-V: ...

cf) *The problem is too difficult to solve it.

e.g.) The problem is too difficult for John to solve (it).

(2-1) 「too + 『형용사/부사』 + to-V」에서 명사를 사용할 경우 → 어순이 「too + 『형용사』 + a + 『명사』」가 됨.
e.g.) He led too busy a life to have much time for reflection.
