• for the sake of somebody/something | • for somebody’s/something’s sake
-in order to help somebody/something or because you like somebody/something
: ~ 때문에[~를 위해서](~를 돕기 위해서·~를 좋아해서)
e.g.) 
They stayed together for the sake of the children.    그들은 아이들 때문에 계속 함께 지냈다.
You can do it. Please, for my sake.    넌 할 수 있어. 제발 날 위해서 해 줘.
I hope you're right, for all our sakes (= because this is important for all of us).

• for the sake of something/of doing something
-in order to get or keep something
: ~을 (얻기·지키기) 위해서
e.g.) 
The translation sacrifices naturalness for the sake of accuracy. 
    그 번역은 정확성을 기하기 위해서 자연스러움을 희생시키고 있다.
She gave up smoking for the sake of her health. 
    그녀는 건강을 위해서 담배를 끊었다.

Let's suppose, for the sake of argument (= in order to have a discussion), that interest rates went up by 2 percent.

- if you do something for old times’ sake, you do it because it is connected with something good that happened to you in the past
: 옛날[옛정]을 생각해서


• (just) for the sake of it
-for no particular reason
: 특별한 이유 없이, 별 이유 없이
e.g.)
Don't get married just for the sake of it.
   단지 결혼 자체를 위해서 결혼을 하지는 마라.

-(informal) just for fun; for no real reason

-used to emphasize that it is important to do something or when you are annoyed about something

e.g.) 
Do be careful, for goodness' sake.    제발 좀 조심해 줘요.
Oh, for heaven's sake!   아이구, 하느님 맙소사!
For pity's sake, help me!   제발, 절 도와 주세요!
